| Landmark Survey Uncovers Reasons Why Women Are Not Able to Properly Address Their Skin Care Issues
The condition of a woman's skin has a serious impact on her self-esteem, according to results from a new landmark skin care survey announced today sponsored by Obagi Medical Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: OMPI - News), a leader in physician-dispensed topical aesthetic and therapeutic skin health systems. The survey, entitled "Women and Skincare: A Quest For Real Results," was developed to identify women's attitudes, behaviors and desires when it comes to skin health. Further, even though the majority of respondents feel a skin care professional is the best source for skin care information, they continue to seek solutions without the advice of a medical skincare professional. The majority of women (84%) have at least one issue with their skin. This peaks among women in their 40s, who report having four skin care issues.
Botaneco Announces Launch of Second Generation Oleosome Product
Botaneco, a wholly owned subsidiary of SemBioSys Genetics Inc.
(TSX: SBS), focused on the development and commercialization of
oleosome technology in personal care, OTC and topical pharmaceutical
markets, today announced the launch of its second generation
oleosome product, Hydresia(TM ) G2, at the In-Cosmetics 2008
exposition in Amsterdam. Hydresia(TM) G2, a natural emulsion base,
retains all of the functional performance properties of Botaneco's
first generation Hydresia(TM) product, while offering formulators
the ability to develop products over a broader pH range (3.5- 8.5).
This will allow for the development of low pH exfoliants and anti-
aging products that can provide consumers with the moisturization,
skin health and aesthetic benefits that Hydresia(TM) brings to other
finished formulations.
ZAPZYT enters adult market
FLOWOOD — ZAPZYT Skin Care Products, distributed by Waltman Pharmaceuticals Inc., is now entering the adult acne category with the launch of Adult Acne Clearing Gel by ZAPZYT. Adult Acne Clearing Gel was created for adults 25 and older who suffer from mild acne and need a topical treatment. This new formula contains salicylic acid, aloe and natural botanicals to reduce the redness and swelling acne normally causes. The light gel smoothes into skin without any visible sign and is light enough that it can be worn under make-up. "We are so excited to expand our line to include an Adult Acne Gel," says Whitney Burns, vice president of Waltman Pharmaceuticals. Adult Acne Gel by ZAPZYT became available April 1. Waltman Pharmaceuticals, based in Flowood, has been marketing the ZAPZYT line of skin care products since 1987.
Nash Wound Care Center adds chamber
Nash Wound Care Center added a third hyperbaric chamber to its facility on Thursday. The center, located behind Nash General Hospital on the campus of Nash Health Care, specializes in the treatment of nonhealing wounds, a significant and often debilitating condition that is becoming more prevalent due to America's aging population and the increase in the number of Americans with diabetes, said Dawn Wilson, communications coordinator for the hospital. Nonhealing wounds can cause serious health problems that may lead to amputation, said Mack Moore, the center's program director. "We started the Wound Care Center last year because we believed there was a need in our area to help those with problem wounds," Moore said. "Problem wounds are very common among those with diabetes and heart disease, as well as any condition that affects circulation." The additional hyperbaric chamber allows the center to treat more patients in their own community, Moore said.
